Car Wreck Injuries

Once you’ve been in a car accident, you need a doctor to determine if you will require treatment for your injuries. Many car accidents results in minor injuries or whiplash. New Mexico is a top state for car accidents and thus many innocent victims need a personal injury lawyer to handle their injuries case.

The first most common injuries after a car accident are neck injuries. While whiplash is usually a short-term issue, some car accident injury victims have chronic neck and long-term complications to the neck. If you notice neck strain or regular pain in your neck that doesn’t go away, the best route is to see your doctor for further treatment. Whiplash is essentially back-and-forth movement in the neck that is especially forceful in a motor vehicle accident.

The next most common car accident injuries are brain injuries. These types of injuries have to be taken extremely seriously as brain injuries can be life changing and permanent if nothing is done to remedy the situation right after the accident. You also need to look out for symptoms of a concussion which are headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and confusion. A concussion is technically a traumatic brain injury usually caused by whiplash and a blow to the head.

Another common car wreck injury is back and spinal cord injuries. Again these types of injuries can turn into something more serious if left untreated. It may take time to determine if you have a spinal cord injury. If you lose feeling in your back or have numbness near your spinal cord you need to see a doctor as soon as possible to avoid complications. Spinal cord injuries gradually cause more issues an over time it can become apparent that the pain is not going to go away without treatment.

In New Mexico, over 50% of car wrecks happen after dark. New Mexico is a very dangerous state to operate a motor vehicle. Smaller towns in the State along with long stretches of freeway from I-25 and I-40 are where some of the worst accidents end up happening. Nearly a thousand fatal car accidents took place around the State from 2017 to 2019. Bernalillo County is the hot spot for the most car accident in the state where Albuquerque is present. Of course the busiest road Interstate 40 which runs east and west in the State has the most accident overall.
